AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco is an American professional soccer player. She plays as captain and striker with the San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) which is the top division of women's soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team.She co-captained the United States women's national soccer team with Carli Lloyd and Megan Rapinoe from 2018 until 2020. [8][98][9] Morgan was selected by the Western New York Flash at number one in the 2011 WPS Draft. She had graduated from Berkeley in the early part of the year. Morgan also played for California Golden Bears. Morgan made her professional debut there and was integral in the team's winning the league championship. Morgan, then 22 years older, was the youngest national player in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 where she placed second. In the 2012 London Olympics, she scored the game-winning goal in the 123rd minute in the semi-final game against Canada. She was the second player in the United States to score 28 goals and 20 assists in 2012, which makes her the youngest and sixth most prolific player in the nation to score 20 goals in a single year. She was awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year, and was a FIFA World Player of the The Year finalist. Morgan was also instrumental in helping the United States win their titles in the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, which included her on the Dream Team for both tournaments, while she won the Silver Boot in 2019.
