Awkwafina

Awkwafina began as a American performer and rapper, making sly songs that addressed issues such as racial and sexual identity with a comedic twist. In the years before she stepped into Hollywood her career, she had the opportunity to perform a variety of tracks. Nora Lum is the daughter of Chinese and Korean parents from Forest Hills Queens. The trumpet was her first instrument. She also received classical and jazz training later when she began to explore hip-hop as a teenager. While at school, she majored in journalism, and women's studies at college, even studying Mandarin in Beijing for a stint. After graduating, she began to focus on music. The track My Vag which was her response to Mickey Avalons My Dick, became a popular viral sensation across the Internet and later appeared on her debut album Yellow Ranger. It also included other hit songs that went viral, such as the body-positive Queef as well as the cheeky hometown tour NYC Bitche$1. The track that was second on the album linked to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide that was published in 2015, which was a different project. Her resume included both musicians and an author. She was now looking to expand her career into acting. Alongside early TV shows like Girl Code and Tawk - she was in films Neighbors 2 Storks and Bad Rap. In 2018, she landed an array of noteworthy parts, including Dude Ocean 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP came out in June.
